Analytical reports in Russia and worldwide on the electronic components market

In Russia, there are plenty of companies that compile reports on the electronic components market. All of them are compiled by experienced marketers, but unfortunately, these specialists don’t work on the electronic components market in Russia directly. Research companies are engaged in all kinds of analysis: from the amount of fish produced to the consumption of lipstick.  In one report, I have even seen a figure that 160 million units of ceramic capacitors were sold in Russia in a year. And it could be fine if only we (the company I worked in) hadn’t sold more than 200 million units in the year described by marketers. And besides us, there are more than 100 competitors and more than 200 large- and medium-sized manufacturers that import independently. I don’t claim that the reports are incorrect or distorted. Usually, reports provided by marketing companies contain total amounts and include a variety of information about the market in question. For example, SIEMENS AG power supplies and MEAN WELL power supplies. In my reports I delete such companies, since I don’t think that SIEMENS AG products are related to the electronic components market and the vast majority of customers agree with me.
Apart from myself, I know only three analytical reports in Russia that are compiled directly by market participants. Chances are that there may be more of them; if you have the information, write it in the comments. I’ll check it and add to the article.  If I list the ones I know, we will get the following:
1. sovel.org  Headed by Ivan Pokrovsky, activity field: the electronic components market in sales prices. He also holds a series of specialized seminars and conferences. My recommendations.
2. commarketru.com Headed by Lebedev Ilja, activity field: the electronic components market in import prices, FOB. Consulting.
3. Lighting Business Consulting Agency, specializes in all the issues covered by a single word – light. Extremely professional reports on the light market. My recommendations.
4. I am happy to include the Central research Institute Electronica into my list. I like their information and layout. Their only disadvantage is that they compile statistical data with a strong bias towards the state sector, which is not surprising, since they are responsible for the concept of the electronic industry development. I recommend them it if you work with government orders.
There are plenty of companies in the world that specialize in analysis of electronic components. Frankly speaking, I think that they are often useless for the Russian market. Their reports are applicable to strategic development only, if the market development for the next 15-20 years is analyzed. The problem is that in fact in Russian there is no such thing as the civil electronic components market.  In the medium term, you will not be able to make a decision that is particular for the Russian market, since the domestic market has unique features that are completely different from the global market, and I would not recommend accepting their figures as a reason to act.
I have always told all representative offices and representatives of foreign companies that figures about the company’s foreign activities should take you 10 minutes sharp; the rest of the time should be dedicated to figures about Russia only or your audience will just fall asleep.
However, you can read them once; between the lines, you can find useful facts or interesting ideas.
Unfortunately, you have to pay for all these reports and by no means they are affordable. Only the company owner or CEO can make a decision and order them.

Here is my list.

  1. Field-specific report on power sources compiled by Micro-Tech Consultants. Currently, the company carries out multi-client and non-standard research on the (segment, field of switches) AC-DC switches, DC-DC converters.
  2. Databeans is a research company specializing in the semiconductor and electronics industries. The compile reports on the microcontroller market, analog segment, interfaces, power supply units, semiconductors, etc. Currently, Databeans is a reputable source of information and consultant in any of the categories and markets of semiconductor products.
  3. Paumanok Publications Inc. is the world’s largest provider of market researches and consulting services for the passive electronic components industry. They were of great help for me for my article on the Russian capacitors market, which will be released in just a couple of weeks.
  4. QY Research Company offers a wide range of research reports. The company is not field-specific; therefore, its reports are still of general character despite being global. They are convenient, since all the information is collected in one place.
  5. IC Insights – needs no introductions – is probably the most well-known analytical company on the Russian market. Offers a full analysis of the integrated circuit (IC), optoelectronics, sensor, and discrete semiconductor markets, including current business trends, leading supplier ratings, capital expenditures, impact of new semiconductor products on the market, and other relevant information about the semiconductor industry.
  6. TechSearch International is recognized worldwide as a leading consulting company in the field of modern packaging and assembly of semiconductors, electronics and materials production. The reports will be primarily interesting Russian manufacturers.
  7. ABI Research Inc is a research service for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wireless connection.
  8. IDTechEx – a very interesting company specializing in independent market research, business analytics and events in new technologies. For example: flexible printed OLED displays, printed and flexible sensors, and electrically conductive adhesives. Distributors will hardly be interested, but producers should sometimes look through these reports.
  9. The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) – the Association of semiconductor manufacturers that includes more than 50 data, examining the key trends in the field of semiconductor competitiveness worldwide and in the United States.  The Association offers the cheapest report.
  10. Bishop & Associates, Inc., is a market research company specializing in the global electronic connectors market. Every year, Bishop & Associates publishes 12-15 new reports on ready-made research in the field of connectors and cable assembly. Now, I use their data for the first part of my articles on the market of connectors and plugs.

Are there other companies on your list and have you personally read their reports?
